You're probably already aware of multi-purpose beauty products. Maybe you use your toner as a makeup remover, or your moisturiser as your primer. I for one love using my body cream as a post-shave balm. There's no better feeling than getting the most out of a product, but how far can you take it? This French beauty brand has the answer.

Known as one of the beauty industry's best-kept secrets, Embryolisse is loved by everyone from Kim and Khloe Kardashian and Lady Gaga to Perrie Edwards and Michelle Keegan. This brand isn't the new kid on the block though and has actually been a cult classic for decades, favoured by celebrities and makeup artists since the 1950s, when it was developed by a Parisian dermatologist.

Now that you're clued up on the history of this brand, it's time to meet its best-seller, the Lait-Crème Concentré Multi-Purpose Moisturiser (£14). Dubbed a "miracle moisturiser" by Gwyneth Paltrow, the product has a total of six different functions, making it a beauty bag staple. Mario Dedivanovic, founder of Makeup By Mario and Kim Kardashian's loyal MUA, swears by the moisturiser and told PS UK that mixing it with bronzing drops creates the perfect makeup base, proving its use as a primer.

It's no surprise that my FOMO went through the roof when I heard all this about the Embryolisse moisturiser, so I had to try it for myself and see if it was really worth the hype.

About the Embryolisse Multi-Purpose Cream

  • The Embryolisse Multi-Purpose Cream is a six-in-one product and can be used as a moisturising lotion, a primer, a repairing mask, an after-shaving product, a baby-care product and a make-up remover.
  • The moisturiser is a rich formula filled with essential fatty acids and vitamins to reduce irritation and plump the skin for firmer results.
  • It's enriched with nutrients and water to balance the skin, promote cell renewal and claims to leave your skin supple and healthy-looking.
  • How to Use the Embryolisse Multi-Purpose Cream

As it's a six-in-one product, the Embryolisse Multi-Purpose Cream can be used pretty much anywhere and anyhow, plus it's non-comedogenic, so you won't have to worry about clogging your pores. Apply a small dab to your face after your serums and before your SPF for use as a daily moisturiser, or apply after your usual moisturiser and SPF if you plan on trying it out as a primer.

To use the cream as a repairing mask, apply a thick layer to clean, dry skin and leave on 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing. If you want to use the Embryolisse Multi-Purpose Cream as a makeup remover or post-shave balm, apply a generous amount and work it into the skin.

What I Liked About the Embryolisse Multi-Purpose Cream

This moisturiser oozes luxury, it's no wonder it's been a hidden gem. I used only a small amount which was more than enough for my face and neck and, following Dedivanovic's example, I mixed it with my e.l.f Bronzing Drops. The results were a radiant, satin-like finish to my skin. Using it again as a priming product, the Embryolisse Multi-Purpose Cream worked well with my foundation, providing a smooth, soft and plump base. I love how my skin felt nourished and healthy underneath the layers of liquid and powder makeup products.

Finally, I used the moisturiser as a makeup remover. Thanks to its rich, balm-like formula, the Lait-Crème Concentré swiftly and delicately melted my makeup off, leaving no signs of dryness or redness, which I usually get when using wipes or micellar water.

What To Consider About the Embryolisse Multi-Purpose Cream

I used this a few different ways but found that using it as a mask or night cream was best for me, as it can feel a bit heavy on the skin, as a deep moisturiser would — in the summer months I prefer a lightweight moisturiser in the day. Saying that, in winter I prefer something that's heavy duty and ultra-moisturising, so that's when I'd switch to using this as a day cream.

Where to Buy the Embryolisse Multi-Purpose Cream

You can find the Embryolisse Multi-Purpose Cream at a number of UK beauty retailers, including: Boots, Sephora, LookFantastic, Cult Beauty and Beauty Bay.
