15 Shiny New Shows Coming to Netflix in 2018

Netflix is making new TV series and movies at a blistering rate, with dozens of original programs currently airing, and having announced back in October that the streaming service is going to release 80 original movies in 2018. So what shows are going to be the next Stranger Things or Orange Is the New Black? Maybe it's one of these 15 new shows coming to Netflix this year.

There's a sci-fi offering set so far in the future that human consciousness is now downloadable, there's a new anthology series that sounds a lot like American Crime (and even has Regina King as one of its stars), and there's a reboot of the 1960s series Lost in Space, which sounds funny on its face but boasts an impressive pedigree with stars Toby Stephens, Molly Parker, and Parker Posey.

Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee

What it's about: It's not new-new, but it's new to Netflix. This former Crackle series features Jerry Seinfeld riding around with fellow comedians in cars . . . and getting coffee, just like the name says. It's often an intimate look at some of the hottest comics of yesterday and today. For the tenth season, the show has moved to Netflix.

DEVILMAN crybaby

What it's about: This anime series is about a sensitive demon-boy who is forced into a brutal war against evil by his mysterious friend, Ryo.

The End of the F*cking World

What it's about: Two outcast teens who go on a road trip to find the girl's father. Little does she know, her companion, a self-proclaimed psychopath, intends to kill her at the end of the trip. It's a dark comedy.

Somebody Feed Phil

What it's about: This reality series is a continuation of a show that started on PBS called I'll Have What Phil's Having. It follows Phil Rosenthal on his global culinary tour, which includes stops in Tel Aviv, Lisbon, Saigon, New Orleans, and Bangkok.

Queer Eye for the Straight Guy

What it's about: This is a revival of the Bravo hit that debuted in 2003, where a group of gay men help a hapless heterosexual with things like wardrobe, interior design, personal grooming, etc.

Altered Carbon

What it's about: Set 300 years in the future, human consciousness is now downloadable, human bodies are interchangeable, and death is not permanent. But a warrior is called upon by a wealthy man to solve the wealthy man's murder.

Seven Seconds

What it's about: A crime thriller about a white New Jersey cop who runs over a young black teen. Racial tensions explode after the cover-up.

Dogs of Berlin

What it's about: Two Berlin police detectives are forced to work together to confront the seedy underworld of their city.

What it's about: Set in 1996 Oregon, this comedy follows two groups of high school misfits who are at odds with each other. It's the A/V club versus the drama club.

Osmosis

What it's about: In a near future, finding true love has been cracked by scientists, who create the ultimate dating app, OSMOSIS.
