One of my favourite ways to incorporate loads of warmth and texture to a room is to add a piece of indoor rattan furniture. Versatile and sturdy, rattan is a staple for comfortable outdoor furniture, but it can also look incredibly chic indoors, especially if you look for pieces with clean lines. I've been searching for a modern, beachy end table to squeeze between two living room lounge chairs — the top of my wishlist options being from a furniture company known for its coastal luxury aesthetic (IYKYK), but it's been hard to justify the splurge. You can probably imagine how ecstatic I was to realise that a stylish rattan table existed at Target for about a third of the price. Allow me to introduce you to my latest home obsession: Target's Costa Mesa Round Rattan Wrapped Accent Table ($130) from the Threshold x Studio McGee collection.

What I Love About Target's Costa Mesa Round Rattan Wrapped Accent Table

It needs to first be said that I'm a huge Studio Mcgee fan. Target's Threshold line designed with the brand is a gold mine for beautiful, affordable decor, and this table didn't disappoint. It arrived in perfect condition, and as soon as I pulled it out of its box, I was instantly impressed with the quality. It's sturdy and has a solid weight, so I don't have to worry about it being knocked over by my little ones. I love that it has a bonus surface area with the bottom shelf — It's the perfect size for holding a coffee table book and a box to stash our remotes. The top surface is large enough for me to fit a plant and drinks for whoever is sitting in the swivel chairs on either side.

The rattan is wrapped beautifully around the legs and rim of the circular tabletops, which are then filled with a basketweave pattern. The contrast between the two textures adds a subtle pop of visual interest in what is otherwise a really clean and simple piece. I own rattan furniture from other luxury home brands and am shocked by how expensive this table looks — it could easily be sold for triple the price at another home store.

What's Worth Noting About Target's Costa Mesa Round Rattan Wrapped Accent Table

After reading through reviews for the table on Target, the most common piece of negative feedback is about the table's yellow undertone. I'm not sure if there is colour variation among the product, but the one I have perfectly matches the colour of the table on Target's website. I'd describe it as more of a pale, straw-like colour rather than a yellow. I actually prefer the light, clean tone compared to darker, honey-toned rattan. It adds a little brightness to the dark furniture and rug I have in my living room.

Who Is Target's Costa Mesa Round Rattan Wrapped Accent Table Best For?

This table is perfect for someone looking for a side table to put between two armchairs or next to a sofa. The round shape offers plenty of surface space without any bulk or harsh angles, which also makes it a safer option for households with small children. If you have a refined, coastal aesthetic, you'll love the look of this table. It's timeless and beautifully made, but doesn't require a huge investment if you're on a tighter budget.
